Coffee Bean is a seed used for preparing coffee, belonging to the perennial evergreen shrub or small tree of the coffee genus. Coffee beans are native to tropical regions of Africa and have a cultivation history of over 2000 years. In 525 BC, Arabs began to cultivate coffee, which began on a large scale after the 15th century. After the 18th century, it was widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, becoming the world’s top three beverage crops.
Coffee beans are mainly used to make beverages and are an important ingredient for coffee drinks, deeply loved by people. In addition, coffee beans can also be used to extract caffeine, which can be used as an anesthetic, diuretic, stimulant, and cardiac stimulant.
There are two main methods for processing coffee beans: dry processing and wet processing. The drying method is simple, usually using sun drying or electric oven drying. The wet processing method can achieve better quality, including steps such as washing fresh fruits with water, peeling, fermentation, sun drying or drying.
The main types of coffee beans are Arabica coffee beans and Robusta coffee beans. Arabica coffee beans account for 70% of global coffee production and are considered a premium variety suitable for cultivation in tropical highlands with stable temperatures. Robusta coffee beans are heat-resistant and are typically used to make canned and instant coffee at a lower cost.
